Digital Photography Video

2504DP-VHS-cover

I was commissioned by Nigel Cooper of Monroe Video Productions to front a Digital Photography Video.¬† Nigel wrote the script and I ad libbed the outdoor scenes. It wasn’t a great success (thanks partly to a few crappy reviews) but was fun to do.

Digital PhotoFX launched

My magazine Digital PhotoFX was launched today. The first issue had taken me and my designer Chris Robinson about 6 weeks to come up with from concept to planning to producing. The issue came with a CD mastered by Ian Jennett.

It was a sell out issue and possible the first and only magazine to be reprinted.

This is the story in the Apex Newsletter

And the magazine looked like this

Photokina with Sigma

I came joint first with John Dakin in an internal Jessop photography competition. The prize was a trip to Photokina…my first time visiting and a Sigma 70-210mm UC lens.

Graham Armitage organised it all and he arranged for us to meet Mr Yamaki

We stayed in the Arcade Hotel in Cologne and met Yamaki on the Sigma stand over a glass of champagne.

Jessops last day at Market Place

The last day at 21 Market Place for Jessop Photo Centre as the business moved premises to 9 Commercial Street on Monday. It was a sad day we really liked that building. Lots of memories Рincluding this one with Glynn, Vaughan, Susan, Simon and myself

Career with Jessops Photo Centre

I worked with photo retailer Jessops from April 1985 until May 1991

I was interviewed for the job by Ian Kennedy and joined the team that opened the 18th branch in Sheffield at Market Place, Castle Square and later moved down to Commercial Street.

The team comprised

Phil Jordan – Manager
Nigel Darnborough – Assistant ManagerPeter Bargh – Senior Sales
Glynn May- Senior Sales
Vaughan Wingrove – Junior Sales

Our first week was spent training in Hinkley Road and Birmingham branches. We picked all the stock at Scudamore Road and then organised it at the branch.

We were joined by a succession of Saturday staff and over the years other members came and went I cannot remember which order and all but ones that stick in my mind included Paul Reynolds, Simon May, Simon Thackery, Mark Howe, Suzi Cooper, Jane , Big Al, Daren Loxley, Robert Fitzgibbons, Dr Robert Webb, Susan Turner.

Jessops went into liquidation on 9th January 2013
