Gengahr and Caro at Bungalow and Bears, Sheffield with Anto Guerra-Gabaldon. Met up with Rose and Gerald Garratty
A good mixture of music this evening comprising two Sheffield bands Promenade Cinéma and Animat supporting headline Ambient Dub act Banco de Gaia at the Corporation in Sheffield with Gerald Garratty.
I witnessed Das Rad’s first outing (comprising Steve Dinsdale, Martin Archer and Nick Robinson)…a fusion of treated guitar, wind instruments and drums with a smattering of keyboards. They performed a set at Bishops House this evening…Not bad at all.
Support was an excellent electronic feast of loops and modulation by Jez Creek playing as Modulator ESP.
Pic of Modulator ESP thanks to Jan Todd (I didnt take a cameras)
New Model Soldier played possibly their last gig as singer David Kurley says farewell due to upcoming migration to Portugal. The band supported David’s other act, Babyshambles. Good set from both followed by a night of excellent DJ material.
After the gig I bumped into Jennie and Josh. Richard Hawley was in the background behind my ear
Saw Placebo at the 02 Academy in Sheffield, supported by The Mirror Trap.
Having caught the bug to photograph old buildings I headed off to my old haunt of Sheffield today to take a look at one of the areas that still has it’s roots back in the days of cutlery of the mid to late 1800s. The area around Milton Street / Egerton Road is steeped in history and the grade II listed buildings that still stand appear to be in their original state – now housing workshops and offices.
Some of the sections of the Beehive Works have been vandalised with graffiti and broken glass is scattered along the narrow Egerton Road. While tragic the scars bring a sense of beauty to the eye of the photographer.
I spent a good hour or so wandering around the small but amply photograph-able area.
In this shot I included a patch of the eroded tarmac that gives us a glimpse of the original cobbled stones below.
Artery play the 02 Academy Sheffield I took a selection of photos. Muzz used one for a while as his profile pic. I’ll post some in due course
Great gig and glad they reformed.
Met up with the guys from siiiii it was the first time I’d seen Mark for about 15 years
